How One Mistake Can Cost You a Title... Complete analysis about UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2014 Final in Lisbon.

DIEGO SIMEONE

What a match it was yesterday, the UEFA Champions League final. Nobody had expected Atletico Madrid to reach the finals. The neighbours of the most successful club in the history, were the underdogs in all the tournaments they were participating. They came out of this tag and defeated the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid in the standings of La Liga. Everyone is praising Atletico Madrid, especially Thibaut Courtois, the whole defence, Koke, Diego Costa and above all, Diego Simeone. With the amounts of funds he had to carry on his team and the way he carried out his proceedings is praiseworthy.

About the final, an error by Iker Casillas lead to a header by Godin.  But everything seemed to be fine, until Sergio Ramos brought Real Madrid back to the game.

WHAT WAS THE MISTAKE MADE BY DIEGO SIMEONE??

Mistake was to put unfit striker, Diego Costa in the starting lineup. Everyone was unsure if Costa was ready to start or not, if he is fit enough or not. But, everyone seemed to be happy upon hearing the news of Diego Costa's inclusion in the Starting XI. But, it didn't result like everyone had expected. He had to come-off after 10 mins. Atletico managed to hold on to the game despite the loss of their key player, but after 60 mins., they seemed to have lost all the momentum and energy they possessed. And opposition was a strong one, which included likes of Angel Di Maria, Gareth Bale, Modric, Sergio Ramos and above all Cristiano Ronaldo. Ramos took the game to extra-time, but it was Bale who brought Real Madrid towards the winning line. And by that time, Diego, with no substitutions left, had no other choice rather than to continue with the tired legs and injured Juanfran. Football Pundits from all over the world also possess the opinion of including Costa and wasting a crucial substitution in the final as the turning point of the game. Everyone is a fan of Simeone's tactics, but yesterday's decisions are still under spotlight. Meanwhile, Real Madrid have won it for record 10 times, and Atletico seemed to end the dominance of Real Madrid and Barcelona in the Liga BBVA.

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone said it's time for his team to rest, relax and prepare to compete and bother the big teams again next season. He insisted that his side must raise themselves from the disappointment of being minutes away from winning the Champions League and come back even stronger next season.
